WaterSense: It makes good sense
KB Home and its partners at Kohler and Moen Faucet are participating in WaterSense, a program sponsored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to make it easy for Americans to conserve water, save on utility bills and protect the environment.
WaterSense is doing for water conservation and awareness what ENERGY STAR® did for energy efficiency by creating a consistent, highly recognized standard for high-performance, water-efficient products.
Look for the WaterSense label on many of our Water Wise products at KB Home Studio, indicating that they meet this standard for high-performance, water efficient products.
The EPA is developing a WaterSense new-home standard that takes this efficiency to the next level with water efficient features throughout the home that don't compromise on performance.
The average family uses about 100,000 gallons of water each year. With the right household appliances and fixtures, this number could be cut by 11,000 gallons, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

ENERGY STAR qualified washers can save loads
An ENERGY STAR qualified clothes washer can save you $550 in operating costs over its lifetime compared to a regular clothes washer.
They are also better for the environment because lowering energy and water use means less air pollution from power plants and less water going to waste.

Water-wise landscaping
California and Nevada are facing water shortages. That's why KB Home is part of two innovative water conservation initiatives. One is California Friendly landscaping, which features California-native, drought-tolerant plants. These homes also include the latest generation of irrigation systems with programmable "smart timers" that deliver streaming water in gallons per hour instead of gallons per minute-and even turn off automatically if it rains. In Nevada, KB Home has parterned with the Southern Nevada Water Authority and the Southern Nevada Home Builders Association to create the first Water Smart Home, which saves up to 75,000 gallons of water per year. Since 2005, the majority of homes we have built in the greater Las Vegas area have been Water Smart Homes.
